They totally blew the Freeride with a puny gas tank.
Just ridiculous.
You know they're suffering from the lack of someone to speak up.

Comment on KTM to enter self-administration on November 29 for restructuring by Ted https://www.mcnews.com.au/financial-difficulties-for-ktm-pierer-mobility-ag-enter-new-phase/#comment-578510 Tue, 26 Nov 2024 08:43:36 +0000 https://www.mcnews.com.au/?p=507955#comment-578510 After buy a 300EXC years ago and witnessing the terrible suspension, I'm not surprised.
After being interested in a Freeride and then seeing the tiny tank, the airbox design and the underwhelming engine power.
Missed by that much.
I really don't have faith in the brand.

Comment on Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Review | Motorcycle Test by rower30 https://www.mcnews.com.au/2023-moto-guzzi-v100-mandello-review-specs/#comment-578508 Mon, 25 Nov 2024 10:58:47 +0000 https://www.mcnews.com.au/?p=434832#comment-578508 Um, no. I owned the 2023 V100S for 12,700 miles. I traded it for a 2025 V85TT TRAVEL converted to a STRADA spec (cast wheels, no bash plate and inner fender). Far, far better bike for touring around on. The larger seating triangle and suspension are worlds better for comfort. With a GIVI touring fairing wind management is great. Six gallon tank actually lets you TOUR, not hunt for gas.

The V100S is a hyper ADHD rev happy beast that never stops trying to maker you do stupid stuff to hear the engine roar like a 1969 GTO, that it does well. My 2023 V100S rattles the valves awful pulling out of the hole in second gear. A 1000 plus cc twin that can't pull second gear out of a ninety degree corner? Yep, slip the spongy wet clutch and run it like a high RPM SPORT bike and THAT is really more what the V100 series really is. So be sure what tickles your fancy. A tighter riding triangle bunched me up too soon. I'm 5'10" and 140 pounds. The $$$ Ohlins could not give me a decent ride for a touring bike…always too stiff. The V85TT rides superbly with KYB stock suspension. Heavier riders may be OK.

I didn't like the nervous nature of the bike, or it's inability to "cruise" and be happy. The V85TT? It will pull 1,2 or 3rd gear in slow corners with no complaints, none. It just pulls harder in a lower gear but it doesn't demand a downshift to quiet the valves rattling away. I seldom ran it hard as the real world say no to that most of the time. I wanted a strong pull out of the hole and a decent highway cruise manner. The V85TT series does that better.

80 HP for the 850 cc TRAVEL engine is plenty for the street. I don't miss that extra HP and wish the V100S moved the real grunt lower, and no…. the V100 engine specs don't jive with riding the bike…it hates slow corners. It is also a HOT as hell bike in the summer above 85 F. It will bake your feet and legs awful. It seems to be the radiator as the V85TT has the same catalytic under the engine and it isn't acting like an oven in the same conditions. I aslo have the V7 STONE model 10 and it is the go to summer bike, the V100S sat there…until I bought the V85TT. Now I can ride either when it is warmer.

The good on the V100S; the air management is very good (the wings work), clever luggage system that keeps the bike clean, Brakes are crazy strong and maybe too sensitive, dash telemetry works well, good mileage cruising expect about 53 MPG average on the motorway, engine is strong as long as it is above 3500 RPM, can't deny to cosmetics of the bike are awesome, seat is pretty good, all the controls work nicely, once moving it feels much lighter than it is.

With some GUZZi character to the engine, because to me this model strips most of all that away, with REAL power down low and a better rider triangle this would be a keeper. Long term maintenance will be $$$ also as it is no better than any moder bike here, and maybe worse (the finger follower valves are hard to adjust). Don't expect a cheap bike to run long term like the V85TT which is an in your garage design.

Quite the opposit. Speed enforcement in Australia is among the most excessive in the world. Note: the wheelie pictures are on track.

Whichever it is, is a lot of nelsons for a small company. I see bankruptcy in their future.

I'm guessing it was because of the rain, but an announcement instead of just cutting the broadcast would have been a bit considerate towards their audience. Not happy SBS!
